About

A compliance studio shaped by examination rooms, not product decks

North Harbor Compliance Studio grew from years of preparing fintech teams for licensing reviews and partner diligence across Taiwan. We write findings the way examiners read them: specific, evidenced, and owned.

Origin

The studio began when founders of small payment and remittance firms kept asking for the same thing after rushed self-assessments: an independent reader who would sit with KYC files, complaints logs, and board packs long enough to say what would not survive an examination question.

Working from 698 Gusikowski Well, 金門市, 福建省, Taiwan, we keep a harbor metaphor because Kinmen’s coastal trade taught us patience with paperwork that crosses borders. Fintech audits for us mean tracing a control from policy line to customer file — not renaming that work as “digital transformation.”

Working approach

  • Scope before sampling — no surprise fishing expeditions
  • Severity grades tied to customer harm and examiner visibility
  • Remediation that names owners and capacity, not slogans
  • Confidentiality treated as a craft, not a footer clause

Engagement partner

Marcus Hale

Specialises in examination prep and partner diligence narratives. Keeps rehearsal sessions short, pointed, and tied to the documents your control owners can produce under time pressure.

Values in practice

We refuse urgency gimmicks and refuse to invent maturity scores. If a control is thin, we say so. If your team needs time before fieldwork, we schedule honestly.

Relationship to clients

Most clients are compliance managers and founders who still answer examiner emails themselves. We sit beside them for a defined engagement, then leave clear ownership behind. Ongoing outsourced officer duties are outside our model by design.
